Applying for secondary school place for September 2024
If your child is due to start secondary school in September 2024, you will need to complete an application using the online application system available on the Oldham Council website. It’s quick and easy and ensures school offers can be made efficiently via e-mail. Applying on line is the only form of application as Oldham Council no longer provides paper application forms. The online system will open on 1 August 2023 and close at 5pm on 31 October 2023.
Process for applying for a school place
Nursery Places - All applications are to be made via the school for Nursery places.
Reception Places - Applications for places in the Reception Class are made via the Local Authority applications process. Parents should receive notification to apply for their child's school place a year prior to the child starting school. Applications open in September and close early January. (Dates vary each year)

Example
A child commencing school in Reception, September 2024: Parents notified to apply for a place by their Local Authority in Summer 2023. Application process commences September 2023. Closing date early January 2024. Parents notified whether their child has a place April 2024.

It is parent's responsibility to apply for their child's school place, even if they haven't received notification from their Local Authority.
